Fall - The Dreamer of Tragedy

FALL

THE DREAMER OF TRAGEDY

Independent Release

Release: December 21, 2018

Fall is a melodic-metal outfit from Corpus Christi, TX. Formed in 2010 and since been a force in the South Texas music scene. The sound blends deep passion for music that often goes unheard, overlooked and marginalized while putting forth their own style in the mix. The music can ascend to blistering speeds with chaotic guitar riffing and rabid vocals, and then transition to a dark, melancholic place. With this new music, Fall presents to all The Dreamer of Tragedy, a collection of four songs crafted (and for the first time) written by the band as a whole. Taking a step back from the extreme and the chaos – a look inward is prioritized and made apparent. Bringing ghostly sounds to life with their instruments paired with lyrics confronting the fears of the self, loss, grief and the afterlife, Fall hopes to connect and gain audience with this small gift of music -made for all, including any who may stumble upon ''The Dreamer of Tragedy''.

Tracklist:

Ascend

Defender

Heir To Silence

Longing Spirits

''Ascend'' is a beautiful song. From the beginning, with it's clean vocals and piano, to the end with heavy riffs and growls. The combination of these elements sounds amazing! The piano even plays together with the harsh vocals, which to me is something unique. The contrast is so big between these two, but they manage to compliment each other. Jessie's voice is perfect for these songs too, soft when it's needed, harsh when he can. ''Defender'' also starts off stow, tricking you into thinking it's a ballad, but we all know it's not. There are less growls in this one, and that was a fitting choice. I'd even call ''Defender'' radio-friendly.

''Heir To Silence'' confuses me, there are some tempo changes as well that annoy me. ''Longing Spirits'' is the last track on ''The Dreamer of Tragedy'', and I was hoping for a bit more fire and power, but it is more or less the same as all previous tracks.

''The Dreamer Of Tragedy'' is a nice, little album for the prog-rocker that has set its first steps into the metal world. Fall gives us some unique combinations, they may not be entirely my thing but I enjoyed listening to this album.
